Access via ISDN is automatically included under the Temple DCANet
Dialup Program. ISDN provides a faster, all-digital method of
connecting to DCANet and the Internet when compared with a modem.
- ISDN is faster than a modem
Using ISDN, you can connect to DCANet and the Internet at
speeds up to 128k. In real world tests, 128k ISDN is about
four times faster than access via a 33.6k or 56k modem.
Since ISDN is all digital, connections are more reliable
and provide faster response time.
- An ISDN line is required
In order to use ISDN, you must purchase an ISDN line from
Bell Atlantic. For more information on Bell Atlantic
ISDN line and rate information, see Bell Atlantic's
ISDN
information page.
- An ISDN terminal adapter or router is required
In order to use your ISDN line with your computer, you need an
ISDN terminal adapter or router.
DCANet has successfully tested the products below. Please note
that other ISDN products may also work with DCANet's ISDN
dialup equipment, and because of changes in manufacturing,
DCANet cannot guarantee interoperability with any ISDN device.
- Allocated time may be used more quickly
Accounts under the program are allocated either 30 or 360
hours of modem connect time per month. When connecting
with 64k ISDN, connect time accrues at the same rate as
when connected via modem. With 128k ISDN, however, the
connect time increases by a factor of two. For example, a
customer with a 360-hour account
can connect via 128k ISDN for up to 180 hours per month
before additional charges accrue.

help@dca.net.
